EventGhost is a Windows automation tool which can preform a set of actions based on some user input, Usually a key-press, remote control, or other such device. To control all three programs I use EventGhost. There are some small hacks that can make maybe two get along, but not a complete solution. However these three media center programs do not play nice together. And Boxee does a great job of playing back other online media, such as The Daily Show, Pandora, etc. Hulu Desktop is the complete solution to play anything from Hulu on the big screen. XMBC Is great for managing and playing back all of your local media.

I find that XBMC, Hulu Desktop, and Boxee are all essential parts of a well rounded Home Theater PC (HTPC). My previous HTPC ran Linux, but with a powerful enough computer, the ability to play games on the HTPC made me move to Windows. I chose to use a relatively new computer (Core 2 Duo 2Ghz, Nvidia GeForce GT 220) and run Windows 7.
And since it was going to be hooked up to a big TV, it might as well be powerful enough to play some modern games on the big screen. We'll keep you updated on what they have planned for August 2011.I wanted a HTPC that I could use to play anything, and that could do anything.

When Boxee first discussed this update two months ago, it mentioned adding support for the Apple iPad. More Languages: the Boxee Box is on sale in 34 countries and has been translated to German, French, Italian, Spanish, Swedish, Hebrew, Danish, Dutch, Turkish, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese (Brazil), Czech, Norwegian, Finnish, and Polish. MLB.TV Upgrades: you can now watch live and archived games, jump to specific innings or game events, see pop-up details on every pitch, as well as rewind and fast-forward games easier. Share Where You Want: share content to Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr. Local File Playback: added support for HFS formatted drives, seek functionality inside music playback, and filtering local files by source. Upon release, the Box will boot with the logo turned orange.Īfter the Recovery Menu appears, connect your thumb drive to the Boxee Box, wait two seconds, then select Upgrade from USB from the menu, and follow on-screen instructions. Power up the Boxee Box by pressing and holding the power button for 6-10 seconds. Make sure to properly eject the flash drive after copying the file. The downloaded file will be named boxee.iso, and that name must be maintained.Ĭopy the boxee.iso file to a thumb drive. If you'd rather not restart your device, you can check to see if there is a newer version of the firmware by going to Settings > System > Check for new version of Boxee.

The new release will be rolled out over the next few days, and your device will automatically prompt you to download the latest firmware at start-up when it becomes available. The last firmware update took place in February (version 1.3) so now it's time for the next one: version 1.1. Boxee aims to release a firmware update for D-Link's Boxee Box - and in the future other Boxee-based devices - approximately every three months.
